Sleep Study - Part 1
I went to see a Neurologist today. After asking me questions for a while he decided that I should have a sleep study done. He believes I more then likely have sleep apnea but I may also suffer from narcolepsy. I guess the excessive daytime sleepiness along with my couple of instances of sleep paralysis point to the possibility of narcolepsy. Sleep paralysis is not a frequent occurance with me so being tired during the day may just be a side affect of the sleep apnea. They will hook me up to several monitors and if I show signs of high apnea occurances during the first 2 hours of me falling asleep then they will wake me up and provide me with a CPAP which would provide constant airflow through a mask to see if that reduces the amount of apneas during the night. If it ends up not being sleep apnea then they will have me take naps every 2 hours after waking me up in the morning to test for narcolepsy. I don’t see how I will be able to sleep with a CPAP mask on my face, especially if I have to do it for the rest of my life.
