About
Who?
My name is Gilberto Creque and I’m a blogaholic.
By day I work as a project manager at a market research and political polling firm. It’s very interesting work to say the least. I’ve learned a lot over the last 9 years that I’ve worked here. I do not write about work in my blog as a general rule of thumb. The reason behind this is that I don’t want to put myself in a position where something can come back and bite me in the ass.
By night I’m a ridiculous tech fiend. I’m constantly doing something involving computers, whether it’s fixing them for others or revamping my sites. I have an insatiable hunger for knowledge in the following:
- Computer Networking
- Computer Programming
- Web Design, particularly XHTML and CSS
- Photography
- Linux
- Gadgets
- Podcasting
- Music
- Blogging
- Web Marketing
- VOIP/Telephony
- Anything involving computer technology
I’m currently 27 years old and I haven’t made up my mine about what it is I want to do in life career wise. My biggest problem is my interest in so many things. I was thinking about computer networking and hardware for a while, but now I am thinking more and more about web development and marketing. I have enjoyed learning about the marketing business from my current job and I think I could do well.
I try not to spend all my time in front of a computer. I have to get in front of the TV or movie screen every once in a while to stay sane. I also like to geocaching and camping on occasion.
What?
This site is my web sandbox. You can check out my blog, or look and see what I am up to on my lifestream.
When?
As often as possible.
Where?
I live in Melbourne, Florida but you’ll want to look right here at this URL. I’m trying to bring everything together. Simply cohesion.
Why?
I’ve kept an existence on the web through various blogs I’ve had. I am now in the process of pulling it all together and making it one cohesive unit. I have been fascinated with the idea of blogging since I first heard of it and have installed and migrated from various and very different CMS systems and blog communities. My goal now is to have a fresh and clean looking site with my various blogs all under the same umbrella. Since being re-infatuated with LiveJournal recently, I am also making an attempt to cross post between my blog and my LJ account. You may ask “Why don’t you just stick to LJ?”. There is a lot to be said about LJ. It’s a great way for finding other people with interest you share and keeping track of friends that you make. It is very community oriented. I <3 it. But I also hate it at times. A person can get to feeling very restricted. Since it is a community, the people at LJ must protect us from annoying pests who try and take advantage of people. They don’t allow you to incorporate to much into your site that isn’t setup by them. It’s understandable, but annoying at times too. That is why I have this site. To be able to incorporate things I can’t on LJ. That and to have a creative outlet of some sort and to hone my web master skills.
How?
I incorporate different technologies to get the job done. My blog is powered by WordPress. I also keep a LiveJournal going that is cross-posted to by using LiveJournal Crossposter. All my sites are hosted by dreamhost.com, the best hosting service ever.
